TOPCO Phillipps, Inc.
Company History:
TOPCO Phillipps, Inc. is a merger of two smaller painting businesses. TOPCO (The Olson Painting Company) was owned by Craig Olson and Phillipps Painting, Inc. was owned by Colby Phillipps.
Phillipps Painting Inc. specialized in homeowner repaints and was forging into the multi-plex/commercial remodel market at the time of the merger.
The two businesses merged 10 October, 2005 with the intent of becoming a dominant high caliber painting company with the ability to serve a larger market.
The merger allowed for the new company to grow in a more managed way for the simple reason that the owner/business, Sales and trade/production tasks could be divided among two owners instead of everything being headed by a single person . For example the new company structure encouraged quicker response to customers whether it be a request for a bid, color selection, project scheduling etc. It also allowed the company to look into the coming months and identify workload peaks and valleys and then balance that against company resources. As adjustment are needed we can proactively focus on hiring new quality employees before the company would become overextended.
The other things that these two companies had in common were a commitment to high quality work, responsiveness to homeowners, builders, and project managers, and treating their employees with respect.
